There are always questions that arise when you bring together so many people under one theme. That is where Q&A picks up. Below are a few of the most commonly asked questions the admin face. We've tried to answer these questions as clearly as possible.

What do I do with Finished Threads?

Some players may understand this process and want to be responsible for posting their completed threads to the wiki. The admin will not get in the way of such independence, however because this is a painstaking process that can be a real headache, the admin do not require that players do this. Instead, the admin merely ask that players properly rename their Thread when it is finished and ready to be archived.

Once a thread is completed the player who began the thread should rename it as shown below.

[FINISHED] IC Month Day – Thread Name

Once the thread is named properly the players work is done. Admin will take it from there. Once the threads are added by admin to the wiki players involved in the new thread will find that the thread is added to the ‘Logs’ section of their Character Profiles automatically.

How do I Join the Wiki? 

Players on Seaside are encouraged to maintain pages for their characters on the game's wiki, which is located on the Seaside Site.

To join, create an account on wikidot and click on the link titled How to join this site? Under Wiki Guide at the top right. The wiki will then prompt you for a password. The password is located in your Welcome mail which was PMed to you upon approval.

Staff asks that you respect other players and only edit character pages that belong to you — unless you have been given explicit permission by the page's owner to help maintain it. Please keep Profiles clean and do not post obscene materials or nude/semi nude images. Please keep vulgar language to a minimum on the wiki. Admin have the right to remove any materials deemed inappropriate.

Do I have to maintain my Character Page?

The Character Profiles on the wiki are set up by staff upon approval of a character. Once it is done, it’s there, and while some players enjoy maintaining their Profile and personalizing it, doing so is not mandatory or expected by the admin.

Here you can find a page that will help those who are new to wiki but still interested in personalizing their profile. Don’t worry. You CAN NOT hurt anything so badly that it cannot be fixed. Naturally if you need help feel free to contact an admin.

How many characters can I have?

Here on Seaside admin do not count characters. The general rule is that players should not have more than 4 characters, however, for players who want more and can maintain activity with all their characters admin have no problems waving this preference.

All characters are expected to be kept active. Active is not posting once or twice a month. Should admin notice an inactive character, the player will be approached.

What are Residential Boards?

Residential Boards, which are located in the Residential section of the Forum, are private boards set aside for private RP and RP related to the characters home. Most Residential Boards are password protected. Players should not RP in anyone’s Residential Board without permission, nor should anyone give out a password to such a board without permission of the owner.

How do I get a Residential Board?

To get a Residential Board simply PM the below information to Mint. Please stick to this format, it makes it much easier for the admin to set up the board.

LOCATION NAME: The name of the location being requested.
LOCATION TYPE: Residential
DESCRIPTION: A description of the location being requested.
AFFILIATED PERSONS: Affiliated persons. This would be the Characters that live in the home. Please do not include NPCs.
IMAGE LINK:If there is a image of the home, give the link here.
SPECIAL NOTES: Any special notes regarding this location.

Once this has been PMed to Mint, the board will be created and the password PMed in response.

Can I play an adult?

While adults do add something to the mix, the admin of Seaside are not comfortable with including adult characters as active PCs within a theme created for teenagers. For this reason, adults are to be NPCed only. Never should a NPC become a main character for a player.

This is, naturally, something that disappoints many players, however it is a safeguard from elements that the admin feel uncomfortable with condoning. This rule is not open to negotiation.

What happens when my character Graduates?

If you read the rule on adults you are likely asking yourself this very question. Well, while we do not allow players to app teachers, parents, or general adults, we are going to make efforts to allow players to keep their PCs if played into and beyond graduation.

This means that if a player apps a character /before/ they graduate and play them actively then the character may remain active. Once the first graduating class of characters leaves the high school we will be introducing a college to the Forum. Rules further regarding College Aged Characters will be posted later.

What do I do if I will be gone for a length of time?

If for some reason you are going to be gone for an extended amount of time it is very important that you PM Mint, or post on the OOC Board that you will be out of town. Players who fail to do so face to possibility of missing a Activity Check and returning to a removed character with no PB.
